As Governor of Indiana and then Vice President of the United States, Thomas Marshall was witness to some of the biggest political issues of his time. From questions of eugenics, to popular democracy, to disability and presidential succession, Marshall's decisions impacted American history in profound ways.
This talk will look both at his time as governor, and also why, as vice president, he did not force the issue of Woodrow Wilson resigning after he had suffered a stroke.
Presenting speakers are Wesley R. Bishop, PhD. and Ray Boomhower, both scholars and authors whose work examines Marshall’s career and influence. Records relevant to Governor Marshall will be on display for guests to see up close.
In Partnership with Indiana Archives and Records Administration.
