Asian Americans are the fastest growing group in the United States and include approximately 50 distinct ethnic groups, but their stories and experiences have often been sidelined or stereotyped.
As a Smithsonian Affiliate, we hope you’ll join us as Dr. Gonzalves explores history and culture across the Midwest and the United States through his book Smithsonian Asian Pacific American History, Art, and Culture in 101 Objects.
Book signings will be available at the end of the event.
Theodore S. Gonzalves, Ph.D., is a scholar of comparative cultural studies. He has taught in the United States, Spain, and the Philippines. Dr. Gonzalves previously served as interim director of the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, and is currently a curator at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
