Special Program:
Amalia Kussner, the Gilded Age Miniature Painter: Book Talk with Kathleen Langone
2 p.m. - Book talk begins
3 p.m. - Book signing with Kathleen Langone

Amalia Kussner, famed Gilded Age artist, gained notoriety for her miniature paintings of social elites in the 1890s, particularly women using a provocative style evoking mythical appearances uncharacteristic of the time. Despite her accomplishments, her life was mired by scandals that overshadowed her success. In this book talk, Kathleen Langone, Amalia’s biographer, will “paint” the miniaturist painter of the Gilded Age and discuss her life from her beginnings in Terra Haute all the way to the parlors of the New York elite.

Kathleen will sign copies of her latest work, The Miniature Painter Revealed: Amalia Kussner’s Gilded Age Pursuit of Fame and Fortune following the book talk.
